Officer ID’d in shooting of ‘agitated’ woman in west Las Vegas Valley

Officer Delylah Donegan, a 28‑year‑old member of the Metropolitan Police Department since 2022 and assigned to the Bolden Area Command, has been identified as the officer who fired during a Friday morning encounter near the College of Southern Nevada. Donegan has been placed on paid administrative leave while the incident is reviewed. Police say the shooting occurred at approximately 5:15 a.m. in the CSN parking lot on the 6300 block of West Charleston Boulevard. Two officers were approached by an agitated woman who was in possession of an edged weapon. According to Metro Capt. Adam Seely, “The woman approached officers, took the edged weapon and began banging on the side of officers’ vehicles while demanding to be shot by officers.” Officers instructed the woman to drop the weapon. When she refused, one officer deployed an electronic control device. The device proved ineffective, and the second officer discharged his firearm, striking the woman. The suspect was identified as Catalina Alverado, 26. She was transported to a nearby hospital and remains in critical condition. Alverado is scheduled to appear in Las Vegas Justice Court on Tuesday.
