Person found dead inside house fire in northwest Las Vegas Valley

According to a Las Vegas Fire & Rescue statement issued Thursday, crews were called at 7:10 p.m. Wednesday night to a one‑story residence in the 7000 block of Majestic Bay Street, near Farm Road and North Decatur Boulevard. Metropolitan Police Department officers, who were on an unrelated call, began evacuating neighboring residences as firefighters responded. The first responders found the structure fully engulfed in flames. Crews began operations to contain and extinguish the fire. After the fire was brought under control, firefighters conducted primary and secondary searches of the residence. During the search, they recovered the body of an adult inside the home. Two Metro officers were evaluated on the scene for smoke inhalation and did not require transport to a medical facility. The origin of the fire remains under investigation.
