The Duke of Sussex visits a children's hospital in Birmingham in a trip to the UK that has had a bumpy start.

Prince Harry’s UK trip regained momentum with a hospital visit in Birmingham on Thursday. The duke attended an event highlighting the work of WellChild, a charity he has supported for many years after becoming its patron in 2007. This year marks the 20th day of the WellChild nursing programme, which helps coordinate care for children moving between home and hospital—a programme Prince Harry helped fund. During the visit, he met Nicky Holt, one of over 50 nurses financed by WellChild, whose role involves assisting children who require ventilation to breathe. The duke spoke with several young patients on the wards and with members of their families. Earlier on Thursday, a service bearing Invictus branding was unveiled at London’s Euston Station under the name Spirit of Invictus. The service will operate along the route to Birmingham, which is slated to host the Invictus Games next year. The Games celebrate the achievements of injured service personnel. Arrangements concerning information meant that Prince Harry did not bring Meghan, Archie, or Lilibet to the London events, contrary to the original plan. It remains uncertain whether Meghan will join the duke in the UK for later engagements in Birmingham and the Midlands, including an Invictus event at the National Exhibition Centre. Speculation persists about a possible meeting between Prince Harry, his wife and children, and King Charles, though no such meeting has been confirmed.
