Raiders starting offense opens preseason with Kirk Cousins TD pass

Las Vegas Raiders’ starting offense took the field in Thursday night’s preseason opener against the Arizona Cardinals and produced an early 7‑0 lead. Head coach Klint Kubiak opted to play the majority of the offensive starters, and they scored on the opening drive. Kirk Cousins, making his Raiders debut, completed five of six passes for 50 yards and a touchdown. On the drive he first connected with Jack Bech for a third‑down conversion, then found Michael Mayer for a 13‑yard scoring strike on another third‑down attempt. Running back Ashton Jeanty, in his second year, gained three yards on his first carry and finished the opening series with 16 yards on three attempts. At right guard, Jackson Powers‑Johnson shared snaps with Caleb Rogers and earned the start alongside veterans Kolton Miller, Spencer Burford, Tyler Linderbaum and D.J. Glaze. Although Brock Bowers was listed among the starters, tight end duties on the opening drive were handled by Michael Mayer and Ian Johnson after what appeared to be a brief cameo on the first play.
