ROUNDING UP

Sphere has been on a streak of firsts lately. From the Backstreet Boys becoming its first pop act to DJ Sara Landry shining as its first female headliner. Now, Mexican megastar Carín León will join them as the first Latino artist to perform at Sphere next year.

The Grammy-Award winner will headline a limited engagement on September 11-13, just in time for Mexican Independence Day and Vegas’ weekend celebrations. Tickets go on sale to the general public on September 26 at noon. Ticket information is available at carinleon.com.

Widely regarded as a “global ambassador of Mexican music,” León has achieved major crossover success. He’s collaborated with Kacey Musgraves, Leon Bridges and Bon Jovi. He’s performed all around the U.S., including the Grand Ole Opry and Coachella. And if you simply can’t wait to see him, he’ll also hit the stage at MGM Grand Garden Arena tonight for the Boca Cheuca Tour.

LOCAL HAPPENINGS

Live on the Lawn. The outdoor concert series will host LA ska-punk vets Goldfinger with Unwritten Law, Zebrahead and Sullvn on September 13. Then reggae masters Common Kings will headline on September 19. More information and tickets are available at virginhotelslv.com

Homegrown hardcore outfit Roman Candle is burning bright this week. The band shared its new single, along with news that it had signed to Sumerian Records, a label featuring artists like Kittie and Sleeping with Sirens. Roman Candle, led by fierce frontwoman Piper Ferrari, has truly made a name for itself here and across state lines. This month, the band will also co-headline its first set of UK shows with the London-based queercore band Shooting Daggers.

Our favorite corporate punk trio Pure Sport have also clocked in with another “work-safe” single called “All Hail the King,” available at linktr.ee/puresportmusic. Though it’s similar to what the boys delivered on 2023’s Bigger Business, “All Hail the King” proves Pure Sport hasn’t lost its edge. It’s a solid, house-shaking rager. We’ll bow down to that.

ON SALE

Rock and Roll Hall of Famer John Fogerty will headline a series of shows at PH Live, beginning December 31. He’ll perform again on January 2-3 and March 18, 21 and 26. Tickets are on sale now at ticketmaster.com.

Stars from Netflix’s reality TV show Building the Band will make their House of Blues debut on November 28. The female-led trio 3Quency and boy band Soulidified will be the first to headline after the groups won over judges that included Kelly Rowland, the late Liam Payne and Pussycat Dolls’ Nicole Scherzinger. Expect to hear all the covers you fell in love with from the show and original singles from the bands. Tickets are on sale now at ticketmaser.com.

Early aughts post-hardcore pioneers Chiodos will bring its All’s Well That Ends Well 20th Anniversary Tour to Brooklyn Bowl on December 18. This album defined a decade with its unorthodox mix of piano melodies of mind-rattling instrumentation. Chiodos painted pictures, told stories through exceptionally long song titles and toppled expectations for what hardcore could sound like. Tickets are on sale now at brooklynbowl.com/las-vegas
