The 1 October Sunrise Remembrance ceremony is set to take place Thursday morning.

Sunrise ceremony scheduled for Thursday morning will commemorate the ninth anniversary of the October 1, 2017, mass shooting on the Las Vegas Strip. The event will take place at the Clark County Government Center Amphitheater in downtown Las Vegas, beginning at 7:30 a.m. Thursday marks the ninth day since the Oct. 1, 2017, shooting. At approximately 10:05 p.m., a gunman opened fire from the 32nd floor of Mandalay Bay onto concertgoers attending the Route 91 Harvest music festival. A total of 60 people died. Thirty‑one victims were pronounced dead at the scene, while 27 succumbed to their injuries at area hospitals. The final two victims died more than two years after the shooting. Hundreds were injured. Scheduled speakers include Gov. Joe Lombardo, Sheriff Kevin McMahill, Clark County Commission Chairman Michael Naft, and Debby Allen, a California resident whose son, Christopher Roybal, was one of the 58 individuals who died in the immediate aftermath of the attack.
