Suspect in killing of worker at Five Below in Las Vegas after arrest in California

David Vasquez, 19, was returned to Las Vegas after being arrested in California on suspicion of killing a Five Below employee in June, police records show. Vasquez faces charges of murder, discharging a weapon within a vehicle or conveyance, and carrying a concealed weapon without a permit, according to the Metropolitan Police Department. The June 17 shooting occurred at the Five Below store located at 2152 North Rainbow Boulevard, near West Lake Mead Boulevard. Investigators say Vasquez became upset after learning that the victim, Brandan Lucas, had sent flirtatious text messages to Vasquez’s girlfriend, who also works at the store. Vasquez was taken into custody in July by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department and held in Barstow pending extradition. Records indicate he was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on Saturday and is being held without bail.
