The life of Rocky Horror star Tim Curry

English actor Tim Curry, best remembered for his portrayal of the transvestite Dr. Frank‑N‑Furter in the cult musical The Rocky Horror Picture Show, has died at the age of 80. Curry originated the role on stage before the film’s release in 1975, a version that continues to enjoy a devoted following. In addition to his iconic Rocky Horror turn, Curry brought to life the menacing clown Pennywise in the 1990 television adaptation of Stephen King’s It and played Long John Silver in the 1996 film Muppet Treasure Island. His filmography also includes appearances in Annie, The Hunt for Red October and Home Alone 2, and he earned three Tony Award nominations for his work on Broadway.
