UNLV will remain a “Swoosh” school for the foreseeable future.
The university announced on Thursday it has extended its contract with the shoe and apparel company through the 2030 season, meaning the Scarlet and Gray athletic programs will be clad in Nike for the next five years.
Nike has been the exclusive outfitter of UNLV’s sports teams for decades, going back to a formative relationship with legendary basketball coach Jerry Tarkanian, who was the first college coach to sign a personal contract with Nike in 1978.
The current deal was set to run out this summer.
No financial numbers were released. Under the terms of the contract that ran from 2019 through 2025, Nike provided UNLV with $2 million worth of apparel and equipment per year; no cash was included in that deal.
