UNLV offense struggles against North Dakota State defense in victory
UNLV’s defense stifled North Dakota State’s offense in a 13‑7 victory on Saturday, forcing three interceptions and holding the Bison to just seven points. The Rebels’ only touchdown came when Andre Porter returned an interception 23 yards for a score on North Dakota State’s second drive. North Dakota State entered the contest averaging 33.6 points per game but was limited to its lowest scoring output since a 9‑3 win over Illinois State on Dec. 14, 2019. Quarterback Nathan Hayes, playing with an injured toe, completed 12 of 22 passes for 124 yards and one touchdown while rushing six times for 33 yards. He connected with Chris Kiel on a 21‑yard touchdown pass with 6:10 remaining in the second quarter, tying the game at 7. UNLV’s Ramon Villela accounted for the margin of victory with two field goals—a 29‑yard kick in the third quarter and a 24‑yard kick in the fourth. On the ground, Jai’Den Thomas led the Rebels with 112 yards on 22 carries. Prior to the game, North Dakota State’s typically high‑powered offense had allowed only one of its five opponents to exceed 10 points this season. The win improves UNLV’s record to 4‑2 overall and 2‑0 in Mountain West Conference play. Sources: Las Vegas Sun Read the full story at Las Vegas Review-Journal →
