A commentary argues that recent violent riots in France, Italy, and the U.S. are coordinated efforts by groups seeking to destroy Western nations rather than organic protests.

VICTOR JOECKS: They aim to conquer

Widespread rioting erupted in France last weekend, with one official estimating 550,000 participants nationwide and over 100,000 in Paris alone. Rioters vandalized at least 3,000 shops, looted high-end stores, and set fire to cars and government buildings, including the 143-year-old town hall in Limoges. Police arrested approximately 2,400 people. French President Emmanuel Macron described the unrest as "political and seditious acts by ultra-left groups whose aim is to bring down the Republic."

Far-left politicians have aligned with the demonstrators. Seven left-wing parties objected to restrictions on new protests, and Jean-Luc Mélenchon, leader of the Indomitable France party, participated in Paris protests while criticizing police for "unleashing" on crowds. Similar violent scenes occurred in Milan, where recent riots injured nearly 200 police officers and led to 330 detentions, roughly half of whom were foreigners or children of immigrants. In recent years, comparable unrest has appeared in New York City, Washington, D.C., and on college campuses.

The commentary asserts these uprisings are not organic but are coordinated by dozens of groups—including anarchists, communists, socialists, and foreign actors—united by a common goal of destroying the West. Drawing a parallel to King Solomon’s judgment, the column argues these groups do not value the nations they inhabit and are willing to use violence to erase existing heritage and institutions.

The piece concludes that groups such as Antifa, the Democratic Socialists of America, Muslims seeking to impose Sharia law, and unassimilated immigrants are comparable to the false mother in Solomon’s parable who accepted dividing a living child. It contends they "don't love America, France, Italy or whatever country they are in" and seek to plunder wealth and rewrite the future through destruction.
