BBC correspondent Will Vernon has been wading through flood water that has caused widespread damage to Monmouth town centre, in Wales, as a result of Storm Claudia.
A family has told BBC Wales how they were rescued from their homes in the darkness by boat, while business owners said they have lost stock worth "thousands" in the flooding.
A major incident has been declared in Monmouth by South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, with crews called to 82 flood-related incidents in the wider area.
Council bosses say they were "ready and prepared but not to this level" due to rivers reaching "unprecedented" levels.
