The men, aged 53 and 32, lost contact with their fishing cooperative on 14 August, 75 miles off the coast of Mexico.

The Mexican Navy located and rescued two fishermen who had been adrift for five days about 150 miles off the coast of Chiapas, Mexico, on August 19. The pair, ages 53 and 32, were reported missing after their sport‑fishing cooperative lost contact with them on August 15 and issued a distress signal. Search teams found the men alive inside a refrigerated storage box normally used to keep the day's catch on a fishing vessel. After receiving medical evaluation, the fishermen were reunited with their families.
