Kyle’s 11‑year‑old son, Brexton Busch, competed in the Kyle Busch Classic. Late Friday night he finished 23rd in his CARS Tour Series West Legends car event after being spun early and later encountering mechanical issues.
On race day, Kyle Larson wore a Kyle Busch tribute scheme on his No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet, mirroring the design and colors of the No. 5 Kellogg’s car Kyle Busch drove at Hendrick Motorsports in 2007.
“It’s baller. It’s perfect,” Kurt Busch said of the scheme. “Sometimes there’s tribute cars with antithetic sponsors and it looks a small odd. Hendrick Motorsports, convey you. Kyle Larson, it’s spot on. … I decidedly chased that Kellogg’s car around a batch in the opening and he was on the accelerated way to success.”
