The Metropolitan Police Department has taken Alex Quintana‑Taurez, 36, into custody following a deadly stabbing in the Las Vegas Valley. Quintana‑Taurez was booked at the Clark County Detention Center on Thursday on suspicion of execution and fourth‑degree arson. Authorities say the arrest relates to a homicide that occurred in the 2400 block of Hinkle Drive, near North Eastern and East Owens Avenue, at approximately 11:44 p.m. on Saturday night. Officers discovered a male victim suffering from stab wounds in a vacant lot; the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The Clark County coroner’s office identified the deceased as Zak Williams, 35, whose death resulted from a stab wound to the chest and has been classified as a homicide. It was not immediately clear Friday morning why police believe Quintana‑Taurez was involved in the crime. He was scheduled to make an initial appearance in Las Vegas Justice Court on Friday morning.
