Attorney: Woman arrested in Metro officer’s shooting is innocent

An attorney for Guadalupe Ramirez, 49, maintains that his client is completely innocent of the shooting that left an off‑duty Metropolitan Police Department corrections officer wounded. Philip Singer made the declaration while discussing the case of Ramirez, who was taken into custody alongside her brother, Agustin Victor Ramirez, 51, on Monday. The siblings face allegations of attempted murder, conspiracy and additional felony charges in connection with the incident. According to police, the officer was leaving a business located in the 7600 block of West Cheyenne Avenue at approximately 8:43 p.m. on September 21 when a rider on a white electric bike passed him and then opened fire. The officer was transported to a nearby medical facility, where his condition was later reported as stabilized. The officer’s identity has not been disclosed by authorities. Guadalupe Ramirez appeared before Las Vegas Justice Court on Tuesday morning. Her brother remains detained in California, awaiting extradition to Nevada. Singer emphasized that Ramirez had no involvement in the shooting and asserted that her brother acted alone. “She is 100 percent innocent,” he said. He also noted her cooperation with investigators, stating, “She cooperated. She will ever cooperate. She’s cooperated from time one, and she will proceed to cooperate. When the evidence comes out it is going to show she didn’t do anything.” The lawyer further described the relationship between Ramirez and the officer, indicating they share a child and are engaged in a custody dispute. “He is the gunman,” Singer said of Agustin Ramirez. “She told everybody that. … She told Metro, ‘he is an OG pack banger.’” Singer added that Agustin Ramirez has a prior incarceration history in California. Court documents show no attorney listed for Agustin Ramirez. Regarding the custody matter, Singer said his client retains shared custody of the child with the officer and has been handling the proceedings through legal representation.
