Bail set at $1M for man accused in 2021 Boulder City killing

Justice of the Peace Gregor Mills set bail at $1 million Monday for John Powell Morgan III, 40, following his arrest Saturday on suspicion of murder in the May 31, 2021, shooting death of Scott Dingman, 40, on Fairway Drive near Pueblo Drive in Boulder City.

Boulder City police arrested Morgan at a Henderson car dealership after authorities said they received new information in 2025 and executed a search warrant at Morgan's residence.

Defense attorney Louis Schneider said Morgan is wrongly accused and that the case involves conflicts of interest, stating that multiple law enforcement agencies previously reviewed the case and concluded the shooting was self-defense.
