Brock Bowers became the first tight end to top 70 receiving yards in six straight games to start a season as the Las Vegas Raiders rallied past the New York Jets 38‑33 at MetLife Stadium. He finished with seven catches for 92 yards and two touchdowns, bringing his career total to 2,421 yards and eclipsing former Raider legend Mike Ditka for the NFL’s 35‑game record for pass catchers who aren’t wide receivers.
Bowers’ breakout performance helped the Raiders overcome a deficit and secure the win. He entered the game with 41 receptions, 547 yards and five touchdowns on the season, and his two scores on third‑and‑goal highlighted the Raiders’ red‑zone efficiency. Offensive lineman Trey Zuhn III and cornerback Jermod McCoy also saw expanded roles in the victory.
“I just go out there and do my thing,” Bowers said after the game, adding, “Every ball that comes my way I try to catch. I don’t know. I don’t really focus too much on the numbers.” When asked about surpassing Ditka’s mark, he replied, “That’s pretty awesome. Such an all‑time great and to be mentioned with his name is pretty amazing.”
Quarterback Kirk Cousins noted the challenge of throwing to a well‑covered Bowers, saying, “When he’s covered, you still need to throw it,” and that it “breaks my instincts” to progress to open receivers. Bowers called his first touchdown a “trust ball” and said, “It was awesome (to win). We were efficient in the red zone, which helped a ton obviously. We weren’t kicking field goals.”
