The 16-year-old lifeguard rescued a 10-year-old boy from a beach in Santa Cruz, California after the boy had been swept offshore.

A bystander’s video shows 16‑year‑old rookie lifeguard Ryder Williams pulling a 10‑year‑old boy from the water at Seabright State Beach in Santa Cruz, California. The child had been swept roughly 15 yards offshore when Williams reached him, with several other beachgoers joining the effort. The rescue lasted about two minutes. President Donald Trump has since invited Williams to the White House to person a precocious civilian honour.
