The Las Vegas Raiders opened the practice window Wednesday for wide receiver Dont’e Thornton Jr., who has been on injured reserve this season due to hamstring pain. Thornton participated in practice for the first time since early in training camp, showing signs of improvement in his mobility and confidence.
Thornton said he has been focused on getting his body ready and learning more of the offense during his time away from the field. He expressed confidence in his hamstring, stating, 'When I put my mind to something, I can truly do it. Whether that’s me working out, practicing, playing. Whatever it is, if I put my mind to it and really lock in, I can do it.'
The Raiders have 21 days to activate Thornton from injured reserve. His return could help a receiving corps that has been limited by injuries, including fellow second-year wideout Jack Bech (broken forearm) and Jalen Nailor (concussion), both of whom are also sidelined.
Las Vegas ranks 12th in passing offense, with tight ends Michael Mayer and Brock Bowers leading the team in catches and yards per game, respectively. Among healthy receivers, Tre Tucker leads with 233 receiving yards, while Thornton aims to compete for playing time in coach Klint Kubiak’s rotation once cleared.
