Golden Knights’ historic sellout streak ends against Maple Leafs

The Vegas Golden Knights' streak of 420 consecutive sellouts, spanning regular season and playoff games over nine years, came to an end Thursday night at T-Mobile Arena. The announced attendance for the game against the Toronto Maple Leafs was 15,977, well below the arena's NHL capacity of between 17,367 and 17,500.

It marked the first time since the franchise's inaugural season — excluding the pandemic-shortened 2021 campaign — that a Knights regular-season home game did not reach capacity. The shortfall was notable given that matchups against Toronto have typically drawn a lively, split crowd of traveling Maple Leafs fans and local supporters, even on a weekday.

Despite the empty seats, the Knights rallied from a three-goal, first-period deficit to defeat the Maple Leafs 4-3 in a shootout. The victory extended Vegas' early-season momentum, though the team will be without forward Victor Olofsson, who is week-to-week with an upper-body injury suffered Tuesday in Seattle.

Jack Eichel continued his strong start, entering the week with a league-leading 10 points. Rookie Trevor Connelly also showed growing comfort in the lineup. The Knights will look to begin a new sellout streak Saturday when they host the Los Angeles Kings.
