Henderson Mayor Michelle Romero will face former Police Chief Hollie Chadwick in the November general election after Romero fell short of winning outright in the June primary. Romero received 49.75% of the vote, roughly 29,000 votes, while Chadwick garnered 23%, or 13,432 votes, in a five-candidate field. A candidate needs a majority in the nonpartisan primary to avoid a runoff. Third-place finisher Adam Price, who received 21% of the vote, endorsed Chadwick following the primary.
The race comes amid an ethics complaint filed against Romero by Price, president of the Henderson Democratic Club, alleging a conflict of interest involving her consulting work with developers who bring business before the City Council. Romero has disputed the accusation, stating she has abstained from voting on items related to her consulting clients. The Las Vegas Review-Journal also reported she has repeatedly abstained on matters involving Las Vegas Paving Corp., where her husband and son are employed.
Chadwick, who was appointed police chief in May 2023 and terminated without cause two years later, announced her candidacy in May 2025 with a pledge to bring transparency and accountability to the council. She previously told Nevada Current that the council's dynamic was "setting the wrong tone for the community" and likened it to high school drama. Romero pushed back on that characterization, telling The Nevada Independent that meetings run "smoothly and effectively" and that collaboration drives the city's high quality-of-life scores.
Chadwick's tenure as police chief drew scrutiny after a 2023 Las Vegas Review-Journal investigation found she cleared the disciplinary record of a detective accused of using racial and anti-LGBTQ slurs. The newspaper also reported she "fled when a reporter tried to ask her a question at a public event." Both candidates emphasize transparency on their campaign platforms, with Romero stating it is "paramount" and Chadwick arguing officials should not "just give a little sound bite and not give the meat and potatoes."
