How Knights lineup could look when Victor Olofsson returns

The Golden Knights are expected to get forward Victor Olofsson back during their season-long four-game road trip, which opens Monday against the Boston Bruins. Olofsson has practiced as a noncontact participant the past two sessions and is traveling with the team.

When Olofsson returns, he is expected to resume his spot on the third line with center Tomas Hertl and winger Trevor Connelly. That trio was arguably the Knights' most consistent offensive line to start the season, outshooting opponents 22-9 and outscoring them 3-1 in the first four games, according to Natural Stat Trick.

In Olofsson's absence, Raphael Lavoie and Braeden Bowman split time at right wing on the third line, while Connelly thrived with increased responsibility. Connelly proved worthy of the top power-play unit, recording three of his nine points on the man advantage, including a goal.

The power play started 5-for-16 with Olofsson but has gone 7-for-28 in the 11 games since, though it remains a top-10 unit. Coach Bruce Cassidy isn't reliant on one power-play unit and will use both if given the opportunity during a two-minute advantage.

Olofsson's return as a shooting threat on the top unit should help the power play's movement, though entries across the offensive blue line have been an issue lately. The Knights have scored just 11 goals in their last five games, and Olofsson's presence should aid the lack of offense.
