Henderson to celebrate Paseo Verde Little League’s US championship

Henderson Plans Celebration for Paseo Verde Little League’s US Championship Win Saturday, Sept. 5, 2026 | 2 a.m. Henderson is organizing a celebration to honor the Paseo Verde Little League team after its victory in the United States championship at the Little League World Series and its advancement to the title game. A free community event will take place from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Sept. 19 at the Lee’s Family Forum, located at 200 S. Green Valley Parkway. Players and coaches are expected to attend, with giveaways and family activities planned, according to a city release. Paseo Verde, representing Henderson and the Mountain Region, clinched the U.S. title on Aug. 29 with a 12‑2 win over the Great Lakes Region squad from Ohio. The victory sent the Nevada team to the Little League World Series championship game in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The team’s run concluded with an 11‑2 loss to Curaçao in the title contest. Nevada became the first state to reach consecutive finals since Georgia’s back‑to‑back appearances in 2006‑07. The previous year’s Nevada entry, from Summerlin Little League, fell to Taiwan in the championship game. During its tournament run, Paseo Verde achieved several milestones. Carsynn Meyer recorded the first RBI single by a girl in a U.S. title game and became the first girl on an American roster to appear in the Little League World Series championship game, according to The Associated Press. The squad finished the World Series with a 3‑1 record, opening with a 5‑0 shutout of Washington, followed by a 14‑6 triumph over Iowa, and then defeating Ohio 12‑2 to claim the U.S. crown. Paseo Verde has flown the Mountain Region flag at the Little League World Series twice in the last three seasons. Its 2024 squad advanced to the U.S. semifinals before falling to Florida. The celebration is presented by the city of Henderson. City officials encouraged residents to be and admit the players, coaches and families.
