Attorneys for Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs say he possesses a "substantial body of tangible evidence" that contradicts allegations made by three women regarding incidents during his tenure with the Las Vegas Raiders. The accounts were included in investigative records released Friday by the Hobart-Lawrence Police Department in Wisconsin, which handled the battery case involving Jacobs and his then-girlfriend in May.
Jacobs pleaded no contest on Sept. 10 to misdemeanor charges of battery and criminal damage to property stemming from that May altercation. He spent the first six games of the season on the commissioner's exempt list before returning to play in the Packers' last two games. The NFL has said its investigation into Jacobs is ongoing, leaving open the possibility of further discipline.
In a statement Sunday, Jacobs' lawyers — David Z. Chesnoff, Richard A. Schonfeld and Clarence F. Duchac III — said the Brown County District Attorney's office had possessed these "uncorroborated, old, and previously unreported allegations for months." The attorneys stated: "Josh took responsibility for what happened in May. He entered into an agreement with prosecutors for two misdemeanors, and he is meeting the court's requirements."
The lawyers characterized the three accounts as "old, are hearsay, and easily disproven," alleging they were released to the media without investigation. They said one woman made a claim to the NFL that the league reviewed and determined warranted no action, and that Jacobs "has kept evidence that supports his accounts and the NFL's decision." The NFL declined comment Sunday on the lawyers' statement.
According to the released records, one woman reported an incident from around 2023, later specifying Jan. 5, 2022, alleging Jacobs slapped her and threw her phone into a pool. Jacobs' lawyers said another woman made a claim only after Jacobs called Las Vegas police to report her for misconduct, and that Jacobs denied any physical altercation with the third woman, stating she visited his home with another person present for part of her stay.
