The UNLV Lady Rebels opened their exhibition schedule with an 89-81 victory over Cal State Los Angeles on Tuesday at Cox Pavilion. Jayla Constant paced the team with six assists and four steals in the win.
UNLV will open the regular season Monday when the Lady Rebels host USC at Cox Pavilion. The program enters the year as the Mountain West preseason favorite for the fifth consecutive season.
The home opener against UTSA on Nov. 6 will feature a ceremony to retire a jersey for the first time in 23 years of program history.
Meanwhile, the UNLV men's team fell to No. 25 BYU in an exhibition Saturday at the Thomas & Mack Center. Coach Josh Pastner sat several key players in the 79-69 loss to the Big 12 opponent, using a difficult exhibition slate to gauge roster depth ahead of the regular season.
The Runnin' Rebels were picked to finish with two players on the preseason all-conference team and the league's Freshman of the Year under second-year coach Pastner.
