The Democrat must have magical powers.

Ronald Stanley Levine Henderson August 26, 2026 - 9:01 pm Democratic gubernatorial candidate Aaron Ford says that, if elected, he will proclaim an “affordability emergency” on his first day in office. He suggests that, as governor, he possesses extraordinary authority to prevent utility and insurance companies from increasing their rates. Having served in the Nevada Legislature and as the state’s attorney general, Ford ought to be aware that the Public Utilities Commission independently determines utility rates, while the Division of Insurance oversees insurance rates and policies. If Ford truly wielded such power, he would have employed it during his tenure as attorney general. More plausibly, he misunderstands the scope of the governor’s authority. Notably, he was unable to define the term “larceny” while serving as Senate majority leader in 2017.
