Sage Parry of Palo Verde’s golf team was voted the girls Nevada Preps Athlete of the Week.

As of October 2, Sage Parry of Palo Verde was named the Las Vegas Review‑Journal Girls Prep Athlete of the Week after receiving 1,008 votes, or 61.3 percent of the total ballots cast. Paydence Manibusan finished second with 624 votes (37.9 percent), while Alexandra Herchick garnered nine votes (0.5 percent) and Marian Moreno received seven votes (0.3 percent), bringing the total to 1,648 votes. Voting for the Nevada Preps girls prep athlete of the week remains open, with the four nominees highlighted for their standout performances from September 21 through September 26. Balloting will close at noon on Thursday, and the results will be announced on Friday. The nominees are: - Alexandra Herchik, Coral Academy girls cross country: The senior completed the 5‑kilometer Larry Burgess Invitational in 19 minutes, 39 seconds to capture the small‑school division title at Basic High on Saturday, finishing a minute ahead of the runner‑up. - Paydence Manibusan, Arbor View girls volleyball: The senior tallied 61 assists and 10 digs during the Aggies’ marathon five‑set loss to Palo Verde on Thursday; she leads her team with 389 assists for the season. - Marian Moreno, Rancho girls volleyball: The senior recorded 19 kills, 17 digs and five aces to guide the Rams to a 3‑1 victory over Cadence on Tuesday; she tops the squad with 155 kills and 170 digs. - Sage Parry, Palo Verde girls golf: The junior carded an 8‑under 64 on Wednesday to claim the individual medal in her 5A Desert League match at Reflection Bay.
