A 66-year-old man died after being struck by a vehicle while crossing East Desert Inn Road outside a crosswalk Saturday evening.

Pedestrian killed in east Las Vegas Valley crash, police say

A 66-year-old pedestrian was killed Saturday evening in a crash on East Desert Inn Road at South Mojave Road, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

Police said a 2019 white Dodge Durango was traveling east on Desert Inn just before 7 p.m. when the man crossed the roadway outside of a marked or implied crosswalk. The front of the SUV struck the pedestrian.

The man was taken to Sunrise Hospital, where he was pronounced dead despite life-saving efforts. The driver remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment, Metro said.

The death marks the 97th traffic-related fatality in Metro's jurisdiction this year. The crash remains under investigation.
