Raiders star Brock Bowers officially ruled out of Sunday’s game at Chargers

INGLEWOOD, Calif. — Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers has been ruled out for Sunday’s 1:05 p.m. matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers. Bowers participated in a workout at SoFi Stadium roughly three hours before kickoff, but the team declared him inactive for the contest. The decision follows a meniscus procedure performed less than two weeks ago. Bowers returned to practice on Friday in a limited role. He had been listed as doubtful on the injury report and spent Sunday morning stretching before running a few routes under the supervision of offensive coordinator John Spytek, tight ends coach Luke Steckel, assistant head coach Mike McCoy, offensive coordinator Andrew Janocko and wellness coordinator Alex Guerrero, among other staff members. Quarterback Aidan O’Connell is absent from the trip for personal reasons. Starting cornerback Darien Porter is also sidelined with a foot injury. Rookies Hezekiah Masses and Jermod McCoy could see action in Porter’s place, with Masses expected to start. Additional inactives for the Raiders include safeties Tristin McCollum and Dalton Johnson, offensive lineman Bryce Cabeldue and defensive tackle JJ Pegues. Las Vegas promoted tight end Chris Myarick and wide receiver Cody White from the practice squad. White and Myarick were the same two players activated the previous week against Miami. White recorded a touchdown‑saving tackle on a kickoff return and earned praise from the coaching staff for his effort.
