A low-pressure system to the south is pushing into Arizona, with local mountains absorbing most of the moisture. Today will see only virga or light sprinkles, if any, as the dry atmosphere causes raindrops to evaporate before reaching the ground. Clouds and mild temperatures will persist, offering a fall-like feel.
As the low moves east, isolated showers may develop across Clark, Lincoln, and Mohave counties and the Colorado River valley. By Monday, the system will kick out, setting the stage for another round of rain midweek, driven by leftover tropical moisture from Simon and an incoming Pacific trough.
Rain chances could begin as early as Tuesday with a 20% chance, increasing to 40% on Wednesday. Thursday currently shows the best chance for widespread rain at 70%. Friday and the weekend will be drier, with cooler and below-normal temperatures expected by next weekend.
