The Raiders' offensive line continued to struggle in Sunday's 35-21 loss to the Los Angeles Rams at Allegiant Stadium, but right tackle DJ Glaze provided a bright spot. Coach Klint Kubiak named Glaze a team captain for the game, praising his consistency and growth. "DJ was a team captain for us this week, so that tells you how highly we believe in how high of a level he's playing at, how good of a teammate that he is, and how he's taking the next step in his career," Kubiak said. "And the thing about DJ is that he's not satisfied, and he's continuing to get better, which he's a very self-motivated young man." Kubiak hopes Glaze can anchor the right tackle spot while the team works to fix the interior.
Rookie Trey Zuhn saw increased snaps in heavy offensive packages and acquitted himself well. Zuhn has learned all offensive line positions and appears ready to compete for the right guard job, where Caleb Rogers has struggled since replacing Jackson Powers-Johnson. Rogers had difficulty in both the run and pass game against the Rams, and center Tyler Linderbaum has not played up to expectations, often appearing caught trying to help to his right.
On defense, second-year tackle Tonka Hemingway returned from a concussion and recorded his first sack of the season while generating pressure. Linebacker Tommy Eichenberg received his most extensive playing time of the season as the Rams utilized three-linebacker personnel, but he could not provide much impact against the run. Meanwhile, Dylan Laube did not see the expected increase in offensive snaps with Mike Washington Jr. questionable, but he posted two explosive kickoff returns and leads the league in kickoff return average among players with at least five attempts. Kubiak praised Laube's versatility and accountability on special teams and as a third-down back.
