Henderson police arrested Andre D'Jallon Thigpen, 22, on Friday in connection with the shooting deaths of his sister, Valencia Hampton, 32, and Christopher Perry, 32, the father of Hampton's child. The Clark County coroner's office ruled both deaths homicides from multiple gunshot wounds. Thigpen faces two felony counts of open murder with a deadly weapon and three felony counts of discharging a firearm from or within a structure or vehicle.
Officers responded around 7 a.m. Friday to a 911 call reporting multiple gunshots at Cascade Apartments near East Lake Mead Parkway and East Warm Springs Road. They found Hampton and Perry with multiple gunshot wounds inside an apartment; both were pronounced dead at the scene despite life-saving efforts by the Henderson Fire Department.
According to an arrest report, Hampton and Perry lived in separate apartments and co-parented their son, who is in middle school. Hampton lived with Thigpen and the boy, while Perry lived with his brother and father. The boy told investigators he had stayed at his father's apartment the night before the shooting because Hampton and Thigpen had been arguing.
The boy said he went to his mother's residence the morning of the shooting to get ready for school and found Hampton and Thigpen arguing about Thigpen not cleaning up after himself. Perry joined the argument, and the boy left for school on his e-scooter before the shooting occurred. He also told police that two nights earlier, Thigpen had repeatedly poked Hampton, she struck him, and the two engaged in a tug-of-war over a door during an argument about cleanliness.
Police arrested Thigpen around 9:10 a.m. Friday near Lake Las Vegas. Detectives said he fled the apartment in Hampton's car, which he later crashed at a bike shop along East Lake Mead Parkway. Investigators found a black handgun and bullets in a backpack Thigpen had when he was arrested. Thigpen refused to speak with investigators. His next court hearing is scheduled for Tuesday.
