The Southern Nevada Officials Association is hosting a training session Saturday at the Raiders practice facility in Henderson for those interested in working high school football games starting in August.

The session, organizers say, is open to new and returning officials. It’s from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and concludes with a lunch from the Raiders.

Larry Hanson, the commissioner of officials for the Nevada Interscholastic Association, said the concept of having a training session started four years ago when the association was lacking workers coming out of closures from the COVID-19 pandemic. That year, the event brought out about 60 referees.

This year, he expects about 150.

This is exclusively a classroom training event — meaning no on-field drills. You don’t need to come in your referee uniform.

Check-in starts at 8:30 a.m. Scan the QR code in this link to register.
