Actor Walter Koenig, best known for portraying Ensign Pavel Chekov on the original "Star Trek" television series, has died at age 90, according to multiple reports. TMZ first reported the news, which was later confirmed by Galactic Productions, an appearance agency that represented Koenig.
In a Facebook post, Galactic Productions said Koenig died of old age Sunday night at a home in North Hollywood, surrounded by his daughter and niece. The agency praised his off-screen legacy, writing, "Walter's legacy extends far beyond the screen. Through countless convention appearances and interactions with fans, he shared his kindness, wit, and appreciation with everyone fortunate enough to meet him."
The post also noted Koenig's recent work, including his short film "Mr. Fleischmann," for which he received the Platinum Award for Best Actor at the 2026 Independent Shorts Award. The agency concluded its tribute: "Thank you, Walter, for the memories, the inspiration, and for boldly going where few have gone before."
