Amazon plans to fill more than 3,000 full-time, part-time and seasonal roles across Nevada during the holiday season, with over 2,500 of those positions located in Southern Nevada. The local hiring is part of a national effort to add 300,000 workers for the holidays, according to a company news release.
The company said it is investing more than $1.5 billion in wage increases for U.S. workers this year. Minimum pay for core operations roles starts at $20 per hour, while average pay reaches nearly $24 per hour and average total compensation, including benefits, exceeds $32 per hour.
Amazon also highlighted its Career Choice program, which pre-pays tuition for college degrees and industry certifications for regular employees. More than 300,000 employees have participated nationwide, including 3,200 in Nevada, with over 600 education partners such as Stanford Online, Purdue University and Western Governors University.
The retailer operates around 15 facilities in Southern Nevada, including fulfillment, shipping, sorting and distribution centers. Amazon currently employs more than 17,000 people in the state and supports over 10,000 indirect jobs, having invested more than $20 billion in Nevada since 2010.
