A Clark County District Court jury awarded Lindy Moore $5.69 million on Friday, finding YCS Checker LLC Operations Series liable for injuries she suffered in April 2024 when a taxi driver closed the vehicle's trunk on her head. Moore, a California resident visiting Las Vegas for a weekend getaway, sustained a traumatic brain injury that required extensive treatment and disrupted her life, according to a news release from her attorneys at Morgan & Morgan.
The five-day trial featured disputes over the extent of Moore's injuries and her medical expenses. Attorneys for the Las Vegas-based taxicab company challenged her claims, but the jury returned a verdict in her favor. Representatives for YCS Checker LLC Operations Series did not respond to requests for comment following the verdict.
"Our client came to Las Vegas for a weekend getaway and left with an injury that has eroded her quality of life ever since," Moore's attorney Amber King and firm founder John Morgan said in an emailed statement. They described her ongoing struggles with persistent migraines and the uncertainty that accompanies a traumatic brain injury as destabilizing, particularly when others question her experience.
