Las Vegas allowing parking tickets to be paid with toys instead of money
Las Vegas is reviving its initiative that lets motorists clear certain parking citations by donating toys instead of paying cash. Under the program, tickets issued from October 1 through November 13, 2026 may be satisfied with new, unwrapped toys whose value meets or exceeds the amount of the fine. Contributions will be accepted until December 14 and forwarded to Chicanos Por La Causa, the nonprofit that assists homeless families in obtaining permanent housing. To qualify, toys must be delivered to the Parking Services Office at 350 S. City Parkway within 30 days of the citation date, accompanied by a purchase receipt. The office operates Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. Alternatively, donors may order toys online and have them shipped to the same address, provided the citation number appears in the delivery instructions. Acceptable donations include family‑friendly board games such as Candyland, Monopoly and Connect 4, gift cards, age‑appropriate toys for children from six months to 18 years old, and stocking stuffers. The City Council first approved the toy‑for‑ticket exchange in July 2016; a February 2023 amendment granted the City Manager authority to oversee the program.
