Las Vegas attorney disbarred over use of hacked docs to sue Cristiano Ronaldo

Leslie Stovall, a Las Vegas attorney who has been licensed in Nevada since 1985, was disbarred by the Nevada Supreme Court on Wednesday for obtaining and using hacked documents to pursue a lawsuit against Cristiano Ronaldo. The court’s decision follows a prior suspension that the justices had been reviewing. Stovall represented Kathryn Mayorga, who alleged that Ronaldo raped her in Las Vegas in 2009. Ronaldo’s representatives offered Mayorga a settlement of $375,000 in 2010, and his attorneys maintained that the encounter was consensual. U.S. District Judge Jennifer Dorsey dismissed Mayorga’s suit in 2022, stating that Stovall “crossed the borderline of ethical behaviour earlier he filed this action, and his disregard for the rules of this tribunal has continued unabated.” A magistrate judge had previously recommended dismissal after determining that Stovall’s case relied on leaked and stolen privileged communications between Ronaldo and his lawyers. Stovall did not immediately respond to requests for comment on Monday.
