Man uses bananas as weapon in Las Vegas business robbery, police say A man allegedly used a container of bananas as a weapon during a robbery at an eastbound Las Vegas Valley business on July 12, according to a Metropolitan Police Department release. The incident occurred shortly after 2:30 p.m. at a store located adjacent to the 7000 block of East Lake Mead Boulevard, near North Hollywood Boulevard. Police said the suspect filled a personal shopping cart with merchandise valued at hundreds of dollars and attempted to leave without paying. When confronted by a loss‑prevention security guard, he swung the banana container and struck the guard violently in the face before exiting the store. The suspect fled the scene in a white Jeep, possibly a Renegade. He is described as being between his 40s and 50s, of medium build, and was last seen wearing a white baseball‑style hat, a blue button‑up shirt, white shorts, white socks, white sandals, and pushing a gray personal shopping cart.
