Update, Oct. 2: Congratulations to Trey Washington of Bishop Gorman shot for being voted the Las Vegas Review-Journal Boys Prep Athlete of the Week.
Trey Washington received 1,179 votes, which accounted for 94.3 percent of the total.
Lauden Cahill garnered 57 votes, or 4.6 percent.
Aaden Flores obtained nine votes, representing 0.7 percent.
Josiah Sayre collected five votes, amounting to 0.4 percent.
A total of 1,254 valid votes were cast.
Voting for the Nevada Preps boys prep athlete of the week covered performances from September 21 through September 26. The poll closed at noon on Thursday, with results announced on Friday.
Nominees:
- Louden Cahill, senior wide receiver at Basic High, posted 160 receiving yards and three touchdowns to lead the Wolves to a 47‑20 victory over Durango on Friday. He averages 72 yards per game for the team.
- Aaden Flores, senior goalkeeper at Arbor View, made six saves en route to a shutout in the Aggies’ 3‑0 win against Faith Lutheran on Tuesday. He tops the squad with 52 saves and three shutouts this season.
- Josiah Sayre, junior forward at Centennial, netted two goals and added an assist Tuesday to power the Bulldogs to a 5‑1 triumph over Sky Pointe. He leads Centennial with 18 goals and also has eight assists this season.
- Trey Washington, freshman running back at Bishop Gorman, stepped in for injured starters Corey Hinton Jr. and Noah Cole on Friday, rushing for two touchdowns and adding a scoring reception in the Gaels’ 45‑3 win over Faith Lutheran. In 26 chances this season, he averages 8.1 yards per carry.
