Waymo begins Reid Airport rides in Las Vegas

Waymo received approval Wednesday to begin offering rides to and from Harry Reid International Airport, the company announced. Current users can now book trips in and out of the Ground Zero Level of Terminals 1 and 3.

The service area covers 24 square miles centered on the resort corridor, including Chinatown, Allegiant Stadium and areas near UNLV. Waymo launched paid service in Las Vegas last September and plans to expand airport access to more customers soon.

"We're excited to welcome Waymo's autonomous fleet to our airport," Clark County Director of Aviation James Chrisley said in a statement. "We serve millions of passengers every year, and as new technologies continue to evolve, we're always looking for ways to bring new options and added convenience to our travelers."

Waymo becomes the second autonomous ride-hailing service approved at Reid Airport, following Zoox's approval in early September. The company operates sixth-generation Ojai vehicles equipped with radar, lidar, cameras and external audio receivers, featuring elevator-style doors, seating for four passengers and three large LED screens for rider controls.

"Fully autonomous Waymo rides at Harry Reid International Airport offer a seamless, stress-free way for travelers to catch a flight or hit the town," said Arica Gately, Waymo's head of airport business development and partnerships. "Thank you to LAS for partnering with us on this journey and helping us add a bit of magic to your airport's travel experience."
