New Golden Knights defenseman out indefinitely with injury

Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Parker Wotherspoon will be out indefinitely with an upper-body injury, the team announced. He is listed as week to week.

Wotherspoon, 29, skated on the second pairing with Rasmus Andersson for the first six games of the season, recording no points and a minus-6 rating. He was acquired in an offseason trade with the Pittsburgh Penguins for Kaedan Korczak and carries a $500,000 cap hit this season after being retained on 50 percent salary.

The Knights recalled defenseman Ville Heinola from the Henderson Silver Knights of the American Hockey League on Sunday. Dylan Coghlan made his season debut against Los Angeles while paired with Jeremy Lauzon, and Andersson was reunited with Noah Hanifin for the first time this season.

Wotherspoon will soon join forward Victor Olofsson on injured reserve. Olofsson is also week to week with an upper-body injury he suffered Tuesday against Seattle.
