A'ja Wilson has won her fifth WNBA MVP award, placing her among the rare athletes in professional sports history to achieve five league MVP honors. The Las Vegas Aces center earned the award in 2020, 2022, 2024, 2025, and 2026, spanning seven seasons with the team.
Wilson joins North American sports legends such as Wayne Gretzky (nine Hart Memorial Trophies), Barry Bonds (seven National League MVPs), and Gordie Howe (six Hart Trophies) in the conversation for all-time greatness. Her dominance was highlighted by leading the league in scoring and advanced metrics during her most recent MVP season.
The recognition comes as the Aces prepare for their WNBA semifinal series against the Golden State Valkyries. Las Vegas lost Game 1 of the series at Chase Center in San Francisco and faces elimination after dropping Game 2, despite a strong effort that included Tiffany Hayes scoring 21 points off the bench for Golden State.
Despite the playoff challenges, Wilson’s historic achievement underscores her sustained excellence. The Aces could be without 3-point specialist Jewell Loyd for upcoming games, while Madeline Carter of the Review-Journal captured a widely shared photo of Wilson during the series.
