Lola Borsh, a sophomore on the Desert Oasis girls cross country team, was voted the Nevada Preps girls Athlete of the Week for her performance during the week of Sept. 28-Oct. 3. She won the 5-kilometer CSN Invitational at Floyd Lamb Park on Saturday, finishing 22 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor with a time of 18 minutes, 42 seconds.
Her individual victory contributed to the Desert Oasis Diamondbacks winning the team title at the event. The honor was announced in an update on Oct. 9 by the Las Vegas Review-Journal, which highlighted her standout run among four nominees for the weekly award.
Other nominees for the award included Tori Castro of Faith Lutheran in volleyball, Jannise Juarez of Cimarron-Memorial in soccer, and Dasha Rosas of Doral Academy in soccer. Voting for the award closed at noon Thursday, with results reported on Friday.
